About Wayfinder Workshop
Wayfinder Workshop is an independent desk mat brand and, with any luck, my eventual escape from corporate America.
I’m Mike. Right now, I have a day job, a meeting calendar I resent, and a small business selling things you put under your keyboard. This is the plan. Please give it a chance.
I started Wayfinder because your desk is somewhere you spend a ridiculous amount of your life. Working. Gaming. Going down a rabbit hole at 1 a.m. when you explicitly said you were going to bed. You’ve probably put some thought into what’s on it. The mat underneath everything deserves a little of that attention.
Unfortunately, shopping for one can feel like scrolling through the same twelve designs in different browser tabs. Another mountain. Another neon city. Something a committee of data ghouls has determined people in your demographic enjoy.
I work in marketing. I’ve met the ghouls.
Wayfinder is where I get to make things I actually want to exist. The designs currently in the shop are all my originals, built around my own interests and the kinds of places, worlds, and details I’d want to spend a little more time looking at. Ideally, you find something here that feels suspiciously like it was made for you.
As the shop grows, the plan is to bring in professional designers and independent artists for collections with their own distinct perspectives. Give people room to make interesting work, pay them a share of what it earns, and let their names be part of the reason you buy it.
That’s what I’m trying to build. A shop with some taste, a sense of humor, and room for people who care about what they make.
And yes, I’d like to make some money along the way. I would love for “desk mat guy” to become my entire professional identity.
